Why are we here
Our central aim is: To promote the best quality of life for people living with or affected by HIV in the North West.
The needs of HIV positive people have changed dramatically across the last 23 years, yet our central aim has remained the same across this time. We continue to respond to changes in the epidemic, and develop our service provision to meet these changing needs.
Despite the development of new treatments that have dramatically increased life expectancy and quality of life, life for a HIV positive person is far from straightforward. Our services have been developed to support all aspects of a person’s HIV status, from support on diagnosis to meeting others in a similar situation.
More than two decades into the epidemic, people living with HIV are still abused, still treated unfairly, and still face situations where people cannot be open about HIV status for fear of persecution. We therefore continue to campaign for a change in attitudes towards people living with HIV, supporting national policy work and providing regional campaigns and information sessions.
