Funding Overview
Like many voluntary organisations, maintaining sufficient funding to support our activities is a constant struggle.
The majority of our funding is from the statutory sector, trusts and foundations. A significant amount is also obtained from donations and fundraising events.

Statutory sector funding
We currently obtain approximately 60% of our funding from Local Authorities and Primary Care Trusts across the North West of England.
The funding contributes towards our core services for people living with or affected by HIV, however the current funding levels are not sufficient to meet the full cost of the services. We are therefore required to supplement this income through our own fundraising efforts.
Some of the funding is managed through a contract with the statutory body, with a mixture of one and 3 year contracts. The rest is still negotiated every year and the uncertainty of this funding makes financial planning and sustainability of the organisation very difficult.
We continue to impress upon our commissioners the need for 3 year contracts to enable us to plan our services and develop the organisation.
Trusts and Foundations
To enable us to trial innovative new projects, or expand into new areas of work, we apply to charitable trusts and foundations.
We also occasionally apply for funding for our ‘overhead’ costs which are vital to the smooth running of the organisation.
Current grants:
Fundraising, donations and room hire
We run a number of events during the year to raise additional funds for the organisation, and receive regular donations from events run by our supporters within the community.
We are also fortunate to have a number of individuals that donate to us on a regular basis.
This income is further supplemented by hiring or our training facility and rental of a property to our partners, Barnardo’s Health Through Action.
