Run With Us
posted: 19/03/2010
There are just 35 Team George House Trust places left in our 150 strong team for the Great Manchester Run. Please sign up now to celebrate and fundraise in our 25th year. The Great Manchester Run - 10km - is on Sunday May 16th.
Sign up for Team GHT
We’re celebrating our 25th with our biggest Team GHT yet – in 2009 we had about 100 hundred dedicated runners. In 2010 we want 150 runners to really raise our birthday year profile and even more money for George House Trust.
Most of our funding comes with strings attached. Fundraised money, like from Great Manchester Run, means we can quickly respond to the most pressing needs and respond to changing demands. The flexibility it gives us is worth a great deal.
How to join Team GHT
To book one of the 35 remaining places please send a cheque for £34.00, payable to George House Trust.
Please write your details - name, email address, telephone number and postal address on an attached piece of paper, or on the back of the cheque.
Send your cheque and details to:
GMR 2009, Christy Lau, George House Trust, 77 Ardwick Green North, Manchester, M12 6FX
The £34.00 pays Great Manchester Run’s charges for registering you. We can refund this later, if you wish, once we have received at least £150 in sponsorship for you. However to maximise the money we raise, we hope you will meet this cost yourself.
What we offer Team GHT runners
All Team GHT birthday year runners are offered:
- Team GHT running vest (special this year for our 25th!)
- Free after run massage from our friends at the Active Health Group
- Training support from Manchester FrontRunners
- Safe bag and clothes storage at the Manchester Convention Centre (GMEX)
- After run party at a city centre venue, including a free buffet
We look forward to meeting everyone again for another fantastic day!

The next of these popular residential weekends for HIV positive gay men will be in May, in Whaley Bridge. The residential weekend is an opportunity to explore and discuss issues around living with HIV with other men in a safe and comfortable environment.

You must have been diagnosed HIV positive for longer than 12 months to take part in the weekend.
Transport, meals and accommodation are all provided free of charge with funding from the Elton John Aids Foundation.
When?
Friday May 14th (early evening) to Sunday evening 16th May 2010
What have other men said?
'The weekend has given me a real boost and I feel now like I can face some of my issues in a constructive way and really move forward'
Thanks for a great weekend which has helped me think about how I deal with some of my fears and anxieties about living with HIV'

Take Part In Service User Survey
posted: 22/02/2010
We need your views! Please take part in our George House Trust annual service user survey.
It is really important for us to find out your views on the services that you have received from us in the last 12 months. We will use this information to develop and improve our services in the future. The closing date is the 6th April 2010.
The survey should only take 10 - 15 minutes. You will have plenty of space to make any additional comments you wish.
£20 Shopping Vouchers
As an incentive to fill in the survey we are offering 5 prizes of £20 high street shopping vouchers. The winners will be drawn at random from completed entries. To be eligible for the vouchers we will need your telephone number on the form. You complete the survey completely anonymously and if you choose to give us your phone for the proze draw we won't use this to identify you or link you with the answers.
This is the first time that we have used an online user survey. If you need a computer to complete the survey you can use the computers for free in reception at George House Trust.
Paper Preferred?
If you would prefer to fill in a paper survey then please contact Lynda Shentall Director of Services on 0161 274 4499
Thank you for taking the time to fill in the survey!

As part of our 25th celebrations we will be holding a one day national HIV Social Care Conference.
25 years ago George House Trust sprang out of outrageous stigma and discrimination to fight for respect and rights of people living with HIV.
Once again we look ahead – building tomorrow’s future for people living with HIV.

Cutting edge expertise, lively speakers, agenda and the interesting times we face – our conference is timely and prescient. Help us build the HIV tomorrow we want to see.

Chief Executive Appointed
posted: 19/01/2010
George House Trust is pleased to announce that Rosie Robinson will be joining us as our new Chief Executive.
Rosie comes direct from her role as Director of Leeds Womens Aid, where she transformed the charity over a 9 year period, by developing ground-breaking services to deal with domestic violence, child abuse, sexual exploitation, asylum and human trafficking.
Throughout her career, Rosie has worked alongside a diverse range of people to ensure that their voices are heard, their needs are properly met and their human rights aren’t violated.
Jim Vann, Chair of Trustees at George House Trust, said “We are extremely pleased that Rosie will be joining us as our new Chief Executive.
In 2010 George House Trust will be celebrating its 25th year, and we are confident that Rosie will lead us successfully through this exciting period and ensure that we continue to provide high quality services to people living with HIV in the North West.”
Rosie Robinson, newly appointed Chief Executive, said “George House Trust is an exceptional charity with a passion for putting its diverse service users at the centre of all it does. It is an honour to be invited to lead George House Trust at such an exciting time in its development and history.”
Rosie will take up her post full time from mid April 2010.
