Volunteers "step up" at George House Trust

George House Trust is delighted to announce that it has received a grant from Awards for All to create an exciting new volunteer role, within our busy Services Team.
Advice Support Volunteers will be matched to individual staff members and will support with a range of tasks including researching information, making phone calls, completing financial applications for service users, contacting volunteers and supporting around monitoring and evaluation and administration.
This is fantastic opportunity for volunteers to develop skills and experience in health and social care and advice work.
The grant from Awards for all will enable three volunteers to undertake an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance, as part of their volunteering. It also provides vital funds to reimburse volunteer travel expenses and help with childcare costs for volunteers to attend the induction training for this role.
Deadline for applications for this volunteer role is Monday 1st August 2011.
If you are interested in this role, please take a note of the following dates. If we invite you to interview, interviews will take place on Thursday 4th August. There will also be training taking place on the 10th, 11th and 12th August.

Use Your Health Experiences in a New Job

Manchester Public Health Development Service is looking for Health Trainers. Experience of living with a long-term condition like HIV or voluntary work is useful in this type of job.
This may be a good opportunity to get back into paid work again. Part-time and full-time health trainers are wanted.
Here are the job details:
Do you like working with people out in the community? Would you like to help others find ways to improve their health and well being? Are you target driven and outcome focused? Are you keen to develop your skills? Then why not become one of a new team of Health Trainers working in Manchester?
As a Health Trainer, you will work with local people to improve health and well-being. You will be someone who is interested in health and who has some understanding of the difficulties people can face in making healthier choices.
Whilst you may not have worked in the health service before you will have:-
- experience of providing health and well being support to individuals
- experience of working with local community groups.
We will provide you with a full training and development programme.
We particularly welcome applications from men who are currently under represented in our programme, and from people who can speak another community language.
