Cash for Fash - Summer of Couture
posted: 28/07/2009
The Summer of Couture fashion show at Pure on Thursday 16 July raised £224.37 for George House Trust, from ticket sales and on the night donations from a generous and up for it audience.
The show was organised by two up-and-coming fashion designers Martina Clarrissa Gilbert of Altrincham and Sacha James of Old Trafford, together with like-minded friends.
Martina who runs the Martina Clarrissa label showed her two latest collections; In The Nude and Spring/Summer 09, and Sacha James presented Blaq Platinum by Sacha James, Raspberry Swirl and Little Lolita.
The show featured musical talent drawn from Manchester, London and Birmingham and the after-show party went on until late.
Martina said: ‘I’ve been helping Sacha James organise charity fashion shows for the past year and a half and during that time I’ve helped raise thousands of pounds for charities like Cancer Research. I really enjoy it, even though it’s really hectic, as it’s a great way to give something back. This year I wanted to raise awareness of HIV within my community, particularly with young people. I researched HIV charities and I specifically wanted a charity with a regional focus like George House Trust. Having George House Trust staff and volunteers there on the night was really good as they could talk about their work and enjoy the evening too.’

Fundraising Look
Volunteers Michael, Lee and Chenai were working the fundraising look with creative accessorising of George House Trust’s own label collecting buckets on the night. A big thank you to them for representing George House Trust on the evening!
