World AIDS Day, 2011
posted: 23/09/2011
World AIDS Day is marked on the 1st December all over the World – raising awareness and raising money for people living with HIV and AIDS. The noise that we make about HIV and AIDS on this international day is vitally important, as it challenges stigma and discrimination too.
How can you get involved?
Hold a fundraiser
You may choose to fundraise at your workplace or with a local community group.
As a basic fundraising package, this year George House Trust can provide you with Red Ribbons, Collecting tins and HIV awareness leaflets and postcards
If you are interested in fundraising, then contact us with a rough idea of how many people you want to fundraise with.
Sell our red ribbons in your shop or café
If you would be interested in selling red ribbons in aid of GHT, we can provide you with a counter display box and collecting tin. Contact us to arrange.
Volunteer!
Every year - we’re out on the streets selling red ribbons in Manchester city centre with our team of volunteers. If you are interested in joining us on the streets of Manchester, then get in touch.
Attend the Candlelit Vigil
Also in December we organise a candlelit vigil in Sackville Park / Gardens in Central Manchester which is an opportunity to remember those people we have lost to HIV. Any proceeds from the Vigil go to organisations supporting local people living with HIV.

Manchester Pride has launched a new video which showcases George House Trust’s work. George House Trust is one of Manchester Pride’s fundraising partners.
The video was shot by FruitTV, a global online platform for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.
Pride supports HIV Welfare Fund
In 2010 £27,500 from Manchester Pride went to support George House Trust’s Welfare Fund to help people living with HIV through financial hardship.
Rosie Robinson, chief executive of George House Trust, commented: “George House Trust has a long-standing relationship with Manchester Pride. It's really great that money raised from people partying at Pride goes to support people living with HIV, experiencing hardship. I think that's a wonderful connection to make.”

George House Trust would like to say a HUGE thank you to all those who ran in Team GHT last Sunday, 15th May.
Our Team braved the cold and the rain to run and raise vital funds to support people living with HIV in the North West.
Big thanks also go to Christian from Active Health for providing some much needed free sports massage before and after the race and to the Cooperative, Crunch Bar and Durex for sponsoring our running vests. Also to our team of supporters who provided some fantastic encouragement along the route!
There's still time to sponsor our runners. You can find them at: http://www.justgiving.com/ght

Sponsor Lynda at London Marathon
posted: 27/01/2011
In George House Trust's 26th year, Lynda, our Director of Services, is running the 26 miles of the London Marathon, raising money for George House Trust.
For 26 years George House Trust has been campaigning, supporting people and fighting stigma: George House Trust needs financial support now more than ever to make sure we survive the recession and cuts and continue to deliver good quality services to people living with and affected by HIV in NW England.
1st marathon
Lynda only started running 6 years ago, to raise money for George House Trust by taking part in Great Manchester Runs. This is her first ever marathon.
Lynda is meeting all the costs of the London marathon and travel etc herself, so all your sponsorship money goes directly to George House Trust to support people living with HIV.
JustGiving
Lynda has a handy JustGiving page - it is simple, fast and totally secure.
Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to George House Trust and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
So it’s the most efficient way to donate - Lynda raises more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for George House Trust.
So please dig deep and donate now. Every donation, no matter how small, adds to Lynda's £3000 target and directly benefits people living with and affected by HIV.
Thank you very much!!
