World AIDS Day 2009 - show your support!

posted: 10/11/2009

volunteers collecting for World AIDS DayWorld AIDS Day is an international day of action to raise awareness about HIV and challenge stigma. It's a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference – whether that’s through fundraising, campaigning, or wearing a red ribbon!

We have lots of activities that we need your support with, including:

  • helping with street collections in Manchester,
  • taking part in our "flashmob" activity (a flashmob is a large group of people, who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, then quickly disperse!). We will be using our flashmob to raise awareness about HIV,
  • distributing red ribbon collecting boxes,
  • organising fundraising events,
  • selling candles and collecting donations at the Candle Lit Vigil on World AIDS Day.

We support over 2000 people living with HIV in the North West of England. Your support makes a lot of difference to the people we work with. We're a small charity. No amount of money raised is ever too small. Every penny counts!

£6500 and Still Counting

posted: 03/12/2008

Over the World AIDS Day weekend, the hard work of volunteers, staff and supporters street collecting, at the vigil and from door charges at Via, have so far raised £6,500. The total raised will be split between George House Trust and LGF.

There is still more to come from the red ribbon boxes around the Manchester gay village, plus lots of other community fundraising activities, and from 40 collecting tins in Bolton.

We will announce the final total raised shortly.

Thank you to helpers and donors

Thanks again for the hard work from everyone to achieve this fantastic amount, given the pressures on people's wallets at the moment.
