I've just been diagnosed, how do I get help?

We appreciate that contacting us for the first time can be a daunting experience. When you first contact us we will arrange an appointment for you to see one of our Advisers. This will be an opportunity for you to discuss which services, if any, you may need. You can ring us on 0161 274 4499. To book you an appointment, we will need to take down some very basic details for our confidential records.

Is our meeting Confidential?

All the information that you give to us is confidential and is not disclosed to anyone else unless you ask us to do so. On your first visit to our building we will ask you to read and sign a confidentiality statement and a data protection form.
Confidentiality is of paramount importance to us and everybody involved in George House Trust is required to sign up to our confidentiality policy.

Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?

Just bring yourself! Your first appointment will concentrate on telling you about our services and identifying any ways that we can help you. When you first contact George House Trust we will need to take down some details from you for our records. After we have seen you, we will also need a letter confirming that you are HIV positive from your consultant. We can obtain this from your consultant with your permission.

How soon can I access services?

Once you have attended your new service user appointment you can begin to access our services. We will need to wait for a confirmation of your HIV status before you will be able to access any financial support that we offer.

What kind of services does GHT offer?

We have a wide variety of services available for people who are living with or affected by HIV.  See our Advice and Services section of the website for further details.

Do I need to register with GHT to access services?

We ask all people who want to access services to attend a new service user appointment, this is so that you will sign up to our confidentiality agreement and to ensure that you have a thorough understanding of the services we offer.

Who can access services at GHT?

We provide support for anyone who is living with HIV positive in the North West of England. We can also provide support to friends, family or carers of HIV positive people living in the North West.
