Skilling Up

Skilling Up is a dedicated project to improve your skills, knowledge and self-confidence. This may be to help you look for a new job, volunteering opportunities or step back into education.

Our Skilling Up Coordinator, Graeme McCracken, can offer you 1 to 1 support and coaching sessions which are tailored to your needs and move at your pace. Group workshops will be available where you can learn in a safe environment; guest speakers will be teaching job specific skills and be on-hand to answer any questions to help overcome the barriers you may have faced when seeking employment. Graeme will provide you with guidance to explore education and personal development courses – at any level.

A fundamental part of Skilling Up is delivering ‘Positive Employer’ HIV Awareness training to corporate businesses in the city of Manchester. Positive Employer training is a thought provoking and informative session which teaches people how they can support a colleague who is living with HIV, it teaches employers how they can make reasonable adjustments to support their staff, all to combat HIV stigma and workplace discrimination. Graeme is running a Work Mentor scheme which provides direct support from the mentor to the mentee in a professional capacity. Volunteers who register will buddy up and provide career guidance specific to their individual skills and profession. For example, matching a Nurse with someone who is interested in the healthcare profession.
